Women Food and God

by bevbarnes on April 8, 2010

If you haven’t read Women Food and God by Geneen Roth buy it and read it now!  If you are like most women, you have struggled with your self-image and your relationship with food.  This book presents the deeper issues in a way that radiates truth.  I highlighted practically all of it.  This book is a keeper.

Even if you are that rare woman who has never had a problem with food, this book will help you to unravel your life.

Why?

Because Geneen Roth exposes the root of the weight issue, which it turns out, is the root of all issues.

The root of all issues is that we are spiritual beings living a human experience and not the other way around.

Every problem that we have is an opportunity to learn how to love ourselves more and increase the amount of love in the world.  In order to resolve unhappiness at work, unhappiness with your weight, unhappiness with whatever, you have to push deeper and get beyond your “false” self or ego.  Every problem is a doorway to God.   And God is love, no matter how you define him or her.

The solution is to increase your self love not your self criticism.

The solution is to learn how to observe yourself with love and compassion….something we are not taught to do.

I love this quote from Geneen Roth:

“You are not who you think you are.  Hardly anyone is.  Because although kids come into this world with an implicit understanding of who they are, they have no self-reflective consciousness.  They know who they are but they don’t know that they know.  And the only way they find out is by seeing themselves in their parents’ eyes.  We become what and who our parents saw.  Figments of their imagination. “

Your job in life is to remember who you are and to be that person.

Don’t forget!
